Knowing youth well
For 16 years, I worked with young adults as a subject teacher, an advisor, and a club supervisor. This experience taught me how to motivate and engage youth. The biggest challenge in IB Chinese is effectively managing time. Students are often overwhelmed by multiple subjects, Internal Assessments, and Extended Essays. That’s why this program is designed for performance and efficiency. I aim to ensure that students achieve a 6 or 7 in IB Chinese. Cognitive strategies to make learning faster and more effective. Time-saving techniques that free up hours each week. Holistic coaching for language mastery and academic resilience.
Over the past few years, many of my students have pursued further studies at some of the world’s most prestigious universities, including Harvard, Stanford, Columbia University, Cornell, the University of California, and Imperial College, among others. Many of them became professionals or started up their businesses after college. They sent me messages and told me that they are learning a new language, or continuing to learn or use Chinese in college or beyond. To my excitement, students appreciated the critical thinking, communication, collaboration skills, and even creativity they developed in my class. IB has prepared them well for their future studies or careers. That reminds me of my belief in education: “Learning is an endless journey,” and “Taking a test receives a tangible grade, but education receives intangible benefits.
